TOKYO - Chinese people's view of Japan has improved, an annual survey shows,with the proportion holding a favorable impression topping 40 percent for the firsttime since such polling started in 2005.

东京—— 一项始于2005年的年度调查最新显示，中国人对日本的看法有所改善，对日本持有的好感度今年首次超过40%。



The proportion of respondents in both countries who think the present status ofbilateral relations is "bad" or "relatively bad" droppedbelow 50 percent for the first time in eight years, with the percentage falling19.1 points to 45.1 percent among the Chinese polled and by 5.9 points to 39.0percent among Japanese.

被调查的两国受访者认为中日双边关系“差”或者“较差”的人数比例在8年内下降，第一次跌至50%以下，持有这种态度的被访问的中国人数下跌19.1个百分点，跌至45.1%，持有这种观点的被访问的日本人则下跌了5.9个百分点，跌至39.0%。

The survey, the 14th of its kind, was conducted in August and September,collecting valid responses from 1,000 people in Japan and 1,548 in China aged18 or older.

Among those with an unfavorable impression, nearly 60 percent cited repeatedintrusions into Japanese territorial waters and air space near the SenkakuIslands by Chinese vessels and aircraft. China claims the Japanese-administereduninhabited islands in the East China Sea, which it calls the Diaoyu.

在那些对中国持有不好印象的人中，近60％的日本人提起中国船只和飞机一再侵入日本尖阁群岛附近的领海和领空。中国宣称日本管辖的无人居住的岛屿在中国东海，它称之为钓鱼岛。
