chronically ill passenger who suffers constant pain has claimed Stansted Airport staff refused to help her board a flight because she was not 'disabled'.

Nathalie Allport-Grantham 23 said she was accused by workers of 'wasting their time' when she asked for assistance on her way to Nice in France.

Miss Allport-Grantham from east London suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome which effects who ability to move about - often leaving her needing a wheechair.

Miss Allport-Grantham also suffers from postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome which increases her heart rate and limits how far she can walk.

She explained that because her chronic illness was not always obvious she was often judged as a result and even called a 'liar'.

Miss Allport-Grantham was eventually helped onto her flight but said the experience was extremely upsetting.

Standsted Airport said an investigation had been launched to get to the bottom of the incident.

Love how people think because you look okay that is there is nothing wrong with someone. Not all disabled people are in wheelchairs lots of hidden disabilities or bad lungs bad hearts etc

Disgusting I get sick of hearing these stories . My child is also very sick and looks normal. I have many times had arguments with people including medical people who are simply clueless . Now she carries her case notes and diagnosis which has been confirmed by experts with a talisman everywhere . It took ten years for a diagnosis and a further four to gel help from the state . The system is abused by hoaxers and sick people like this girl have a hard time having to explain to thick skinned hard headed assumption forming idiots that they really are quite unwell .

One thing I have learned is never judge a book by its cover. I have a friend with MS. To look at them facially and on photos you¿d never know. They have good days and bad days. At some stage the bad days will outnumber the good. They have a disabled badge as they can¿t walk far and have to endure constant harassment from people telling them ¿you don¿t look ill/disabled to me¿.

The same thing happens on the bus if you don¿t have an obvious disability but are sitting in one of the special seats. You can still have bad mobility issues and be in pain but the white haired and stick wielding brigade will sometimes be shooting you evils for sitting there because you look too young to be struggling. Once saw a few elderly ladies shouting at a young girl until she pointed to the stookie on her leg and even then they were not apologetic.
