日本考虑在冲绳主岛部署反舰导弹部队 [日本媒体]

TOKYO - The Japanesegovernment is considering newly deploying to the main island of Okinawa asurface-to-ship missile unit to beef up defenses in response to China'smaritime assertiveness, government sources said Tuesday.

东京——日本政府消息人士周二表示正在考虑近期在冲绳主岛部署地对舰导弹部队，以加强防御应对中国海上过分的自信。

Tokyo has been proceeding with a plan to install asurface-to-ship missile unit on Okinawa's Miyako Island to enhance defenseagainst threats to remote islands in the southwest. But it believes OkinawaIsland should also have a unit as Chinese naval ships have frequently passedbetween the two islands in the East China Sea.

东京持续推进一个在冲绳县宫古岛部署地对舰导弹部队的计划，以增强遥远的西南岛屿应对威胁的防御力量。并且其认为在中国海军船只经常通过中国东海两个岛屿的情况下，冲绳岛应该也应部署部队应对。

Miyako is located about 290 kilometers southwest of the mainisland of Okinawa. The armaments to be deployed on the islands are expected tobe the Ground Self-Defense Force's Type-12 surface-to-ship missiles, with arange of more than 100 km.

By placing missile units on Miyako and Okinawa,the Japanese government believes they will be able to cover the entire sea areabetween the two islands.
