Disgraced footballer Adam Johnson is reportedly planning to resurrect his career abroad after accepting he will never be able to play professionally in the UK again.

Former Sunderland star Johnson 30 is entering his final year behind bars having seen his bid to overturn his conviction fail.

Upon release he will be unable to pursue a lucrative career in the United States' Major League soccer due to the country's strict rules on allowing sex offenders into the country.

And most European clubs would also be off limits leaving Johnson with the option to look into a move to the Middle East China or even Turkey according to the Sun.

Johnson who earned ￡60000-a-week before his conviction no longer has an agent and his father David is managing his career.

A source said: 'He definitely wants to play again – but it is just a question of where and if anyone will pick him up.

Johnson is currently locked up at HMP Moorland near Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

He was jailed for six years in March 2016 for sexually abusing a teenage fan he groomed online.

Personally I think that those who commit such crimes should get much longer sentences and I am always suspicious of those who think otherwise.

his prison sentence was one if the worst sentences ever awarded. female teachers have abused and had actual sex with younger boys for a sustained period of time and avoided jail! he did much much less and got this. he is stupid but I have some sympathy

The point of a sentence is in theory that your debt is repaid / your sentence is served when you¿ve finished. Criminals who return to work are surely preferable to those who choose a life of crime or to live off benefits (or both). It is different if he¿s considered likely to reoffend but weve seen no evidence to suggest this. I always say if Northern Irish criminals can end up in Parliament who are we to stop any of the rest of them!!!

理论上判决的关键在于你出狱恢复自由身时你所欠下的债务是否偿清/服刑期是否已满。重返工作岗位的罪犯们肯定比选择一辈子犯罪或者靠政府救济金过活的人更可取（或者有人两方面兼有）。如果他被认为可能会再次犯罪那情况就不一样了，虽然我们没有任何证据论证这点。我总是说，如果北爱尔兰的罪犯都能跻身议会的话，我们中又有谁能阻止得了其他的罪犯呢！！！！

Sure but football clubs aren't obliged to employ him and any one that does is going to face a massive backlash from their fans. It might be harsh but it's the industry that he's in. Maybe he should have thought about this before he did it.

Yes. Why not. He did the crime & served his time. Ex-Prisoners have a life too. We all sincerely hope he has learned a very costly lesson.
