China has accused Japan's “warlord” prime minister, Shinzo Abe, of threatening peace in the region, following the enactment on Tuesday of controversial laws allowing Japanese troops to fight on foreign soil for the first time since the end of the second world war.

中国强烈谴责日本的“军阀”首相安倍晋三因其威胁地区和平，安倍在周二通过了一项引发争议的自二战后首次允许日本军队登上他国领土作战的军事法。

The security laws, which were passed last September after chaotic scenes in parliament, reinterpret the country's pacifist constitution to enable Japan to exercise collective self-defence – or coming to the aid of the US and other allies – in overseas conflicts.

In an online commentary, the state-run Xinhua news agency accused Abe of abandoning Japan's postwar constitution, which limits the military to a purely defensive role, saying the move would “only serve to endanger the Japanese public's right to live in peace”.

The legislation, the biggest shift in Japan's defence posture since its wartime defeat in August 1945, would also “pose a severe challenge to peace in the Asia-Pacific region, which is already vulnerable”, the commentary said.

Abe's Liberal Democratic party and its coalition partner pushed the laws through parliament, despite mass protests and warnings that Japanese troops could become embroiled in foreign wars.

It is true that China has absolutely no legitamcy to tell Japan off for "threatening peace in the region". I would very much support Japan's move towards strengthening regional ties related to regional securities. and creating a consensus to continue to apply pressure on China to respect rule of law, and make a consorted effort to resist their expansion. HOWEVER, this law put forward by THIS Japanese government has other agendas- allowing them to do much more than what is necessary. Abe is influenced by his grandfather who was a leading political figure of Japan's expansionist policies during WW2. The interest groups backing Abe government denies any wrongdoing during the WW2 - and claims Nanjing was a conspiracy made-up by the communist party.

I wouldn't read this news as simply a good news. Japan is famous for not teaching their children enough about their WWII mistakes. The poll suggests that there are increasing "dislike" towards Chinese and Korean people- and hate-speech towards Korean living in Japan, also hate towards China is quite visible in Japan's far-right media.

For anyone who has studied psychology, this is an example of a mechanism called "projection." China is simply trying to call Japan out on an issue for which China itself is much more at fault--all the better to try to avoid disapproval from the rest of the world. Sort of like Little Britain's Vicky Pollard, when she starts with, "yeah but no but yeah but no but...." If it weren't so sinister, I think it would come across as rather funny.

Japan's hand has been forced to introduce this constitutional amendment to defend itself from the big Chinese bully. If China would learn to share the ocean and respect other countries' territory instead of installing missiles on artificial islands, it would not find itself encircled by a coalition of Asian nations in its own neighbourhood who are resorting to buffing up their military might in order to prepare for what they feel is a highly probable event of Chinese invasion under the nationalist fervour of Despot Xi.

it doesnt makes sense and even quite ridiculous of china to worry about japan nowdays,since a quarter of jpans population live(concentrate)around the tokyo-yokohama circle and japan lays only approx 1000 miles of the china mainland which it's intermiadate range nuclear warhead carrying missile can easily reach.
sounds like china pretending to make japan to seem like a threat for justifying its further military expansions.

I think China is worried about US and the US allied military build up encircling it. Japan has attacked and invaded China in the past more than once, the last time in WW11.

What is certain is that a very big war is coming in the next decade.

China is in a difficult position and it needs to move forward but seems to be moving backwards politically with all these crack downs on people who speak out. This effects trust around the world as they see China as repressive again. The latest leadership seems weak in that it needs force to survive. Japan is America's puppet but also a cranky apponent to China. Interesting times but China needs to continue on the economic path as there is still some way to go. Socialism mixed with capitalism is the way forward for a prosperous healthy world. Also they need Hong Kong to have some independence and are mad turning it into a party haven for rich Chinese. But then what do I know. Just my opinion from my observations. Arrogance from any culture is a killer in the end. Starts wars.

It is in the Ryukyus.

Japan has been occupied by and is a vassal of US since WW11. US and Obamas military Asia pivot to crush rising economy of China doesn't bode well for the future of all of us. Japan does what US wants even against it's own citizens who have been demonstrating against new and old US bases in Okinawa for months/years. Remember what Japan suffered and is still suffering at the hands of US...
