Go ahead and payreparations to blacks for slavery. Then collect an equal amount from thedescendants of the West African slavers who sold defective goods to Europeans.And finally, collect trillions of dollars from Africans who use electricity,railroads, computers, or any other Western developed technologies.

If I wereJamaican I would be mortified by this begging bowl approach by theirgovernment.
The Britishworking class of the 18th century were barely better off than slaves -nominally free but economically bound with lives of extreme hardship. Whyshould their ancestors pay reparations to Jamaicans (as no doubt taxes to payfor such largesse would fall disproportionately hard on the current poor).

I'm all for theconcept of reparation and accountability, but I simply can't agree with the Jamaicansand I'll explain why.
Putting itsimply, I will not be paying for the mistakes Britain made over 300 years ago.Yes, slavery is abhorrent and it will be forever a black mark in Britain'shistory, but unfortunately you can't turn back the clock. I wasn't born in the1700s, so why should I pay for the mistakes of Briton's who are long gone?
David Cameron'sfamily may of benefited from slavery, but I know categorically that my familynever benefited from slavery and 99.99% of people who would need to pay these"reparations" families never benefited from slavery.

A familiar, butfactually incorrect assumption.
Theinfrastructure we all enjoy today, including the fact that the UK is one of theworld's richest countries, is due to our collective legacy of chattel slaveryand genocide in Jamaica and elsewhere from Empire.
That might makeyou feel uncomfortable - it clearly does - but it is an historical fact.
And I mean thatin the nicest possible way, sunshine!

If the UK willnot pay any reparations, how about the Jamaican government kidnapping Cameronand holding him for ransom?
The official governmentline is that the UK does not pay ransoms, even if the kidnappers start toreturn their captive(s) bit by bit, in the parcel post.
