Chinesescientists are constructing the world's biggest radio telescope, which will bemore effective than any other at picking up weak messages from outer space thatcould be linked to intelligent life.

中国科学家正在建在世界上最大的电波望远镜，比起其他望远镜，这架望远镜将能更好的捕捉与外星生命相关的微弱的外太空信息。

Assembly of theFive-hundred-metre Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST, began in July and isexpected to be completed in 2016.

这款500米长的光圈球形望远镜（或称FAST）于7月份开始安装，预计2016年完工。

Once finished,the reflector dish of the telescope will be 500 metres in diameter, replacing PuertoRico's Arecibo Observatory, only 300 metres in diameter, as the world's largest.

Trying todiscover Intelligent life with a Radio telescope is absolutely daft but itserves as an excuse for getting hold of some good old research dollars. Ifintelligent life exists out there, what is the probability it is using radiowaves to communicate with other distant civilisations? Does anyone think thatin a thousand years we will be using radio waves to do the same? It's not verylikely now is it. So we are looking a a window in the age of the universe of1000/18 billion max over which radio waves may serve as a means of interstellarcomms. That's a f****** small number window of opportunity. Call me skepticalbut this really is just an excuse to squeeze out money for old rope.

If alien lifewas found it would not be a challenge to the Christian because God created alllife no matter where it's found. However, if evolution is true, why can't we find it out there?  Truth is, if it ain't there, you can't findit.
