VIENTIANE —Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday agreed to provide two large-sized patrol ships and lend up to five used surveillance aircraft to the Philippines, a Japanese government spokesman said, with both countries locked in territorial disputes with China.

万象——日本首相周二称同意提供两艘大型巡逻艇以及租借最多5架二手侦察机给菲律宾，日本政府发言人称。两国都和中国存在领土争议。

Abe and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte agreed in Vientiane to strengthen cooperation to ensure a peaceful resolution of the South China Sea dispute, Japanese Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Koichi Hagiuda said.

安倍和杜特尔特在万象同意加强合作以保证南海争议的和平解决，日本官房内阁副长官生田光一如是说。

Japan has already agreed to provide 10 smaller-sized patrol ships to the Philippines.

Turbotsat: Haven't you noticed that China take's offense at any perceived "meddling" in their affairs? And meddling by Japan or the USA infuriates them even more.

A real masterstroke from Abe, a genius indeed, his proxy Duterte will keep the Chinese busy and make them divert more resources to keeping the phillipines at bay, this will be like a jab to the body that will wear china down and lead to the collapse of the communist china just like the Soviet union.

安倍这招还真是很妙，人才吖。他的代理人杜特尔特将让中国一刻不得闲，从而让中国调用更多资源来对付菲律宾，进而重创中国，最终导致共产主义中国的崩溃，就像苏联那样。

Japan's moral compass on display as usual. Forget that Duterte is the head of a death squad and condemns the UN, the US, and probably even Japan, as well as anyone else that questions it's war on drugs and the innocents dying; giving him these things will help Japan, and that's all that matters. Like sanctioning Russia because "it's right", then asking Russia not to hold it against them and offering to work with them all the same. Like agreeing with UN and US sanctions on Iran, but still asking the US not to freeze Japanese assets if it uses Iranian oil. Like suddenly thinking Israel is the tops and has a great human rights record (they do not) now that oil is less of a dependency and they won't depend on Iran/ME as much. Doesn't matter what it is -- if it furthers Abe's agenda he will do it and then pretend to take the high road later.

日本又在展示自己的道德罗盘。杜特尔特是行刑队的头子，对那些质疑他发起毒品战争并导致无辜人民死亡的国家进行谴责，包括联合国，美国，甚至是日本；而给他提供这些装备有益于日本，这就是日本所关心的。制裁俄罗斯也是因为“这是正确的”，然后又叫俄罗斯不要介怀，像往常一样和日本合作。以及和联合国以及美国一道同意制裁伊朗，但是又要求美国不要冻结使用伊朗石油的日本资产。现在日本不那么依赖石油也不那么依赖伊朗和中东了，所以就说以色列是最好的，拥有很好的人权记录（其实并非如此）。只要能满足安倍的目的，日本就无所谓。

Duterte cannot have his cake and eat it too.
