A man from a small village has become anunlikely celebrity in China for his incredible appetite for red hot chillies.

中国一名农村男子意外成为了名人，因为他超爱吃红辣椒。

Li Yongzhi, who lives in the village ofShawoli in Henan province, enjoys the heat so much he consumes up to 5.5 lbs(2.5 kilograms) of chilli peppers every day.

李永智，来自河南一农村，每天最多吃2.5公斤辣椒。

Mr Li, 48, even uses chillies as mouthwashin the morning, according to People'sDaily Online.

据人民日报网站报道，48岁的他每天早上甚至用辣椒漱口。



According to local reports, Li Yongzhi hastaken a liking to spicy food since his childhood.

根据当地媒体报道，李从小就喜欢吃辣的食品。

The villager, who is dubbed 'king ofchilli' in China, told Zhenzhou Evening News that he could have a meal with nomeat or eggs, but never without a handful of chillies.

人称“辣椒王”的他对郑州晚报说他吃饭可以没有肉或蛋，但是绝对要有辣椒。



He said: 'Most people brush their teeth inthe morning, I just eat chillies to freshen up my breath.

'Without chillies, any meal is tasteless.'

他说：“大部分人早上都刷牙，但是我通过吃辣椒来清新我的口气。“没有辣椒，吃什么都无味。”

He added that chillies also helps him killtime as he eats them as a snack in the evening after he finishes a day of work.

他还说辣椒还帮助他消磨时间，因为劳作一天之后，晚上他都会把辣椒当零食吃。
