Donald Trump has questioned whether the US should continue its support for the “One China” policy unless Beijing makes concessions on trade and other issues.

川普质疑美国是否应该继续支持“一个中国”政策，除非中国在贸易和其他议题上做出让步。

“I don’t want China dictating to me”, he said while defending his recent phone call with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen.

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, he said: “I don't know why we have to be bound by a 'One China' policy unless we make a deal with China having to do with other things, including trade.”

Trump is playing smart. Instead of targeting Russia as his subject, like the Democrats did, he is targeting China. He is essentially following the same US foreign policies (bullying, chest-thumping, etc) but with a different target.
He probably hopes to put a wedge between Russia and China.

It won't be Trump dictating to China, either.  He is what we once called a bs artist who has never met someone at least as strong, yet is patient as he can never be.  They can spend his entire 4 years destroying the US economy if they wish, with far less impact upon themselves.  Putin needs China far more than he needs the US, as well, as best I can see.  P.S. This is why China knows its best interest is never to go to war with US, unless attacked.  It has been waiting 5,000 years for its place in the sun from what I know.

He talks some sense. China is very fond on telling other nations "not to meddle in our internal affairs" but they are very vocal towards other countries when it suits them.
Like it or not, Taiwan is a functioning democracy with a culture so developed it is quite different to China. There is no logical reason why it should not be formally recognised as a separate state. No reason why Asia cannot do a Yugoslavia, and that of course would include Tibet.

I am not advocating fighting for a solution, but countries do break up over time and there is nothing cast in stone as to why Taiwan has to be part of an alien China.

Taiwan is a defacto separate functioning state. Why should it be forced to be part of China if it does not want? Many countries have ties with Taiwan, just not officially, which is a pretty stupid state of affairs just to placate China.
