Dockless and GPS-tracked Mobikes will be available in Ealing from September

The proper way to offer public bike share is with schemes that integrate with existing city public transport systems, - hence usable with the city's swipe card, and be located in racks, rather than abandoned anywhere, at great inconvenience to everyone except the person who abandoned it. And yes these unregulated  bike schemes are about obtaining data personal to people who download the app.  - and that data is not just about how  they use the bikes. Be warned

Great, more bikes to dodge on the pedestrian walk...

If oBikes are the yellow ones, then they're currently littering inner-city Melbourne in quantities that suggest they're reproducing overnight. But I'm yet to see anyone riding one, although in the early morning there's plenty of evidence to suggest riding under the influence late at night and some evidence of vandalism.

GPS-enabled, so the commies in Peking know where u are going everyday

Seems like an overfinanced idea: in Amsterdam people complain about the number of shared bikes that block pavements and are just parked anywhere.

There are a few around Lambeth as of a week or so ago, on side streets. Usually just sitting on a quiet side street. People just look confused when they see them

They should have gone to places like Vienna. They will learn very quickly that London is not China. Most of their bikes will get nicked.

the china response to stealing would be to just flood the market with even more bikes...

Hopefully they will fix issues with GPS location accuracy, tried obike in London and couldn't find the bike at the location where the bike should be- wasted time and took boris bike. Having docks means that there are generally always bikes around and in a predictable location.

StanSokol GPS problem could be fixed in another way : make even more bikes available on the street. If you could find bikes everywhere, you would not rely much on GPS.  What do you think ?

Pseduonames They already have a problem with blocking pathways in London and councils removing them, if there are even more of those bikes lying around, the council will take drastic action and can even ban them.
