Video footage of a school in Russia teaching pupils as young as five how to pole dance has surfaced sparking outrage over the controversial lessons.

The school in Naberezhnye Chelny Russia teaches schoolgirls as young as five how to dance on the pole in PE classes.

The video clip reveals a young girl being taught how to spin around and climb a pole.

The girl has learned how to twirl around while upside down.

All the while her teacher in a shirt that reads 'winner' teaches and guides her spotting her for balance for the trickier movements.

However many have shared their distaste for the video that surfaced on Sunday.

'So you have this pole whatever you call it. It's not compatible (with children) - it's vulgar' mother Viktoria Poshagina said.

Aleksandra Pronina the mother of a pole dancing pupil Kira Pronina seemed proud of her daughter's pole ability.

'Here (my daughter Kira) is developing a six-pack and her arms have become very strong' she said.

And this video isn't the first of its kind. Another video of children in Russia pole dancing surfaced two years ago sparking similar online fury with campaigners against the sport claiming it could 'provoke sex crimes' among children.

While I can see what people are saying I think it's only perceived as "sexualisation of children" if that's how people choose to see it... having done pole fitness I can say that it's not remotely sexy it's just really hard work and uses ALL of your muscles... as for the "revealing" outfits- it's actually because you use the skin on your stomach and thighs (and elsewhere) to grip the pole otherwise you'd just end up in a heap on the floor :)

For people who associate pole dancing with something vulgar this is a problem. For people who associate pole dancing as a really good exercise this is baloney.
