Maternityservices in China are bracing themselves for a mini-baby boom now the country'sdecades-long strict one-child policy has come to an end.

在几十年的一胎政策废除后，中国的产妇服务迎来了迷你婴儿潮的繁荣。

Since the ban onhaving more than one child was lifted last October, the country is rethinkinghow to cope with two-child families, especially as some mothers are anticipatedto be older than average.

Hospitals areexpanding their maternity wards and the baby consumer industry is preparing foran economic boost – with eight million more babies due to be born as a resultof the change in policy.

According toChinese finance firm Founders Securities, the 'baby boom' will generate up to160 billion yuan ($24.3 billion) - based on calculations that it costs 200,000yuan to raise a child up to the age of 16.
