While robots have already been taking human jobs in many industries such as car manufacturing as they become increasingly sophisticated there are growing fears they will put more employees at risk.

Reminds me of a 'Not the Nine O'clock News' sketch from decades ago cars 'handbuilt by Roberts' when all of the line workers were of that name. The BBC recently broadcast a science programme highlighting that up to 80% of manual workers would be replaced by robots eventually. An unbelievably depressing thought.

I saw those programs and developed automated machinery (Say Robots and people think of androids which are decades away if we are to make safe ones.) Automated machinery could make us competitive with China and that's enough incentive for me!

This is going to be the next revolution in our lives: the Robot Revolution. It is going to affect the whole of society and require huge changes in how we interact. For one thing the days of mass immigration are numbered. We won't need cheap labour to conduct tasks that can be undertaken by robots. Robots will be subsituting for all those millions of people currently employed as lorry drivers delivery staff sandwich makers kitchen staff construction workers cleaners parking control...It won't happen overnight but my guess will be that within 20 years we will have been through another revolution comparable with the IT revolution of 1985-2005.
