Japan has filed a protest to Beijing after the discovery that China installed radar equipment in a gas exploration platform close to disputed waters in the East China Sea.

Japan fears the radar a type commonly found on patrol ships and not necessary for gas field development could be a sign China intends to use gas exploration platforms in the disputed waters as military stations Japanese media said.

According to a spokesman for Tokyo’s foreign ministry Japan discovered the radar in late June and issued a protest on Friday through its embassy in China urging Beijing to explain the purpose.

Japan has been calling on China to halt construction of oil and gas exploration platforms in the East China Sea accusing it of unilateral development despite a 2008 agreement to maintain cooperation on resources development in the area where no official border between them has been drawn.

Come on it is just a radar. There will be a lot more to follow. Massive money is pouring into the Chinese military-industry complex and make a lot of people rich and happy. Someone is going to be spent into the ground and IMHO it is likely to be the ones who are already on the ground debt ridden.
Just to refresh the history: Japan and China agreed to "put aside" the dispute until some bored Japanese wants to "buy" the island and thus take control. Oh poor little Japan should have stuck to porn.

Believe it or not China is the UKs 2nd biggest heavy-weight supporter in its defense of The Falkland Islands after France. It is a standing joke amongst the PRC factory owners as we drink beer at dinner.... "how can the British ever have the nerve to complain about the PLA physically protecting China's trade routes". Just about every single peninsula across the globe has an ex or current British naval shore battery scanning the horizon. From Gibraltar Aden HK.... to the all important Diego Garcia island etc.... Only 60 years ago the HMS Amethyst was chugging up the Yangtze River as if it owned the place.

I understand Japan is also an abuser country when comes to hunting whales but China is behaving like some middle eastern dictator country like Iraq who invaded Kuwait for oil the beginning of all the troubles you see in the middle east today. There is a limit on how much you can push the world.

japan doesn't realise that america will use the japanese as frontline troops in the war with china. having said that the idea of marrying chinese production with japanese tech is quite frightening.
