U.S. women's 4x100 relay team beat the clock after winning re-run petition: Bizarre scenes as sprinters run on an EMPTY track following earlier baton drop

美国女子4x100米重赛获得决赛资格



In one of the strangest sights ever seen on an Olympic race track, the U.S. women's 4x100 relay team were given a second shot at qualifying in Rio after dropping their baton in their earlier qualifying heat on Thursday. 

周四在奥运田径赛场上发生了最怪异的景象之一，美国女子4x100接力重赛晋级，而在早先的预选赛中，美国队掉了棒。

Team USA petitioned for a re-run after Allyson Felix claimed a Brazilian sprinter elbowed her as she was making a baton pass to teammate English Gardner on the third leg. 

美国申诉重赛，美国选手Allyson Felix称在她传第三棒给队友English Gardner时被巴西短跑选手推挤了一下。



The IAAF sided with the Americans, and just after 7pm the four athletes wandered back out onto the race track to re-take their positions. 

国际田联站在了美国人那边，然后4名美国选手重回赛场重跑。

They were the only athletes on the track at the time, making it a truly bizarre sight.

Their only goal was to beat the time set by the the Chinese who were the slowest to qualify with 42.70.

The team retook their places in lane 2 of the track, the exact same lane they were places earlier in the day.

美国队在第二跑道即原来的位置进行了重跑。



In the end, the team won comfortably with a time of 41.77, despite a difficult final changeover.

Some of you posters are blind as bats. The Brazillian runner was clearly stepping on the line and caused a lane violation. The Americans should NOT be DQ'd as a result of the Brazillians inability to stay in their lane.

Seriously people. Try running at a high rate of speed and get bumped by another runner and see what happens. Allyson Felix was clearly interfered with so the US team should not be disqualified.

I actually watched it while working. The Brazilian runner's arm was WAY into Felix's lane by quite a lot. And after elbowing Felix, the Brazilian runner's leg was WAY into Felix's lane. They made the right call by DQing Brazil and having another race.
