A man in China spent 150,000 yuan (￡18,118) renovating his new home, only to later find that he had decorated the wrong flat. 

中国男子花15万元（1.8118万英镑）装修自己的新家，后来才发现那不是自己的房子。

After purchasing his flat situated on the 40th floor of a block in Chongqing in June, he was handed the keys to his new apartment. 

六月份在重庆一小区购买了40楼的一个公寓后，他拿到了新家的钥匙。

He started renovating the apartment when he got a call from the property management office on October 20 telling him that he had been renovating someone else's home, according to People's Daily Online. 

于是他开始装修，而就在10月20号那天，物业处打电话对他说他装修的是别人的房子，容人民网报道。

According to the property management office, there were eight apartments on the 40th floor but only four had been sold. 

根据物业处的说法，40楼有8套公寓，但只卖出了四套。

This then resulted in a mix up in the numbers allocated for the flats and the man was given the wrong keys. 

这导致公寓门牌号码发生了混淆，男子拿到了错误的钥匙。

He had indeed been renovating the wrong apartment which belonged to someone else. 

所以他所装修的房子确实是别人的。

The story has shocked people on news site Sina. 

这一新闻让新浪网友感到震惊。

One user commented: 'If that's a wrong flat then why would they possess the key?'

一名网友说道：“如果不是那套公寓，那他们哪来的钥匙？”

And another wrote: 'Both the developer and the property manager should be blamed.' 

又有网友说：“开发商和物业经理应该被追责。”

One user said: 'Can he just simply change the door sign?'   

还有网友说：“他能直接换个门牌号吗？”

I know someone that once drove off in someone elses car it was an old 90s ford fiesta and both was identical and his key fitted the doors and ignition of the car next to it.
