Sydney's new pocket of luxury along the stunning harbour has become a magnet for foreign investors.

Up to 80 per cent of Barangaroo has been snapped up by overseas buyers and most of them are wealthy Chinese investors according to The Daily Telegraph.

The pull is so luring for rich Chinese buyers auctioneers and agents are selling apartments on Barangaroo Avenue for almost double the price they were bought off the plan just three years ago.

According to Mr Mifsud's colleague head of auctions James Pratt Chinese investors wanting to buy apartments in Sydney's 2000 postcode often don't even travel to Sydney as they know of the quality.

You know as well as we do these properties were not advertised for sale in Australia. They were sold exclusively by Chinese Agents in China. A fifth were sold in Australia as planned. Stop pretending.

locals don't want to buy city these apartments anyway. high strata fees high price to buy.. Also off the plan purchases are not good cos developers make changes to original plan. Off the plan is only good if the build takes 1-2 yrs and you can offload it before settlement and you take the profit.

These properties were marketed EXCLUSIVELY by Chinese Agents in China. Australian investors were not given the opportunity to buy ALL of these apartments. Only 20% were made available locally.
