Okinawa was taken by brute force by the US? Well you are right about that. In World War 2 when it was fighting against Japan the clear aggressor in Asia and the Pacific. Why do we maintain military bases in over 150 countries around the world? Why do we protect Germany Japan Saudi Arabia? Why did even we had to go to cold war with Russia? To protect our national interest. China is militarising the South China Sea and threatening busiest world trade route. Had Obama played tough with China he would have never been forced to exit from the backdoor of Air Force One by Chinese. Now for Duterte keep watching how he comes back wagging his tail.

You're clearly not familiar with the geography or history here. There are documents and maps dating as far back as the 17th and 18th centuries showing the Paracels and Spratleys as being part of Vietnam. China didn't claim sovereignty until after WW2.
They have no business being there. It's Vietnamese territory.

The US has business interests in SE Asia worth billions per annum. China is not only attempting to annexe archipelagos which have been decreed by UNCLOS as NOT theirs they are de facto laying claim to one of the busiest shipping routes In the world through which trillions of dollars of goods are shipped annually. 
China is also a nuclear super power and has a standing army in excess of 1 million men with even more in reserve. Collectively the other nations in SE Asia are ill-equipped and armed.
The US is protecting its own trade interests as well as those of allies in the region.

Mostly the latter. It's a volunteer military; if they felt strongly about any of this stuff they could have joined up already. But like Don the Draft Dodger they prefer to let others do the heavy lifting.
