The apparent assassination of the North Korean leader’s estranged half-brother is strengthening bipartisan calls for the US to relist North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism, a designation lifted nine years ago. Doing so would increase the country’s isolation, while potentially complicating any future diplomacy to halt its nuclear and missile programs.

Lol not sure if you're being serious but yes: the US led intervention in Korea saved lives. North Korea slaughtered thousands in the South Korean cities they'd already taken. And if the Communists had won Kim Il Sun would have slaughtered millions. He was an absolute monster and would've and the resulting purges after a Communist victory would've made Stalin look like a priest. I advise you grow up and learn to show some respect for the brave men who have fought and died for the freedoms people in free countries around the world enjoy today. South Korea today stands as evidence that it was worth it.

Just to clarify for you the puerile word "whataboutery" and deflection (both classic techniques in independent courts of law) in this case would refer to pointing to America. I didn't do that unless you actually think the US is behind the world's terror attacks? Was that what you meant?

I see the attempt at satire has completely confused you. It is not a deflection or whataboutery at all rather a play on the recent distortion of language Orwell referred to. Everyone knows what terrorism is. And everyone knows what North Korea is. The article is about that distortion of language putting North Korea on the terrorist list along with Al Qaeda and ISIS. Why don't they just rename the list "enemy list" then Orwell can rest in peace.

The idea that there is a diplomatic solution to NK is a dangerous delusion. The strategy in the past was to negotiate and make concessions whenever NK behaved badly (NK being taken off the state sponsors of terrorism list is a prime example). Weakness is what brought us here. Shills will claim that the US presence in SK is the only reason for NK's aggression. But the fact is that there was no US military presence there in 1950 when NK invaded the South. US intervention was the only thing that prevented millions of South Koreans from being slaughtered.

North Korea is not the only country that has the nuclear bomb however North Korea like China has also stated that it will not be the first to strike a country with it. It is hoped that North Korea will be able to develop its ICBM with a range exceeding 20000 kilometres.

Assad (and Erdogan) has been a long time sponsor of violent extremists in the Middle East. It's a well known fact that jihadi fighters killed in Iraq were found with passports stamped in Damascus. Syria and Turkey have both allowed terrorists to move freely across their borders for decades. The current situation is just a case of terrorists biting the hand that fed them.
