In a major boost for the UK car industry, the Chinese car firm unveiling a ￡300million electric black cab factory in Coventry confirmed expansion plans today.

作为英国汽车产业的一剂强心针，投资3亿英镑在考文垂建立黑色的士工厂的中国汽车企业今天确认了扩展计划。

In the village of Ansty, manufacturer Geely will produce the new electric London Taxi Cab and create 1,000 jobs, after it pledged to invest a further ￡30million on top of the ￡295million cost of the factory.

在安斯蒂村，吉利公司将建造新的电动的伦敦出租的士，创造1000个就业岗位。此前该公司还是承诺在投资2.95亿英镑建厂之外再追加投资3000万英镑。

The plant, which is the first new car factory in the UK for a decade, will also build an electric van alongside the world's first purpose-built, mass-market electric taxis as it ditches diesel.

Up to 500 more jobs and ￡30million of investment could be added as a result of the additional electric van project that could see total production peak at 36,000 electric vehicles a year.

The Cab will run on electric in congested Inner City areas but will switch to the engine on long runs to places like the airports. When they get back to London the batteries will be fully charged.

Not a lot of use no matter the hype!! A 70 mile range would be useless and as for providing charging points in London the spend more time charging then driving, unless using the petrol engine! So apart from the huge ramp in initial costs together with increased road tax since it'll attract the additional ￡320 pa for costing over ￡40k and ￡130pa for the normal tax from 1st April, no taxi driver would be able to make a profit from it! Come back when they are? more reasonably priced together with 300 mile range, then maybe it'd be worthwhile!!!

尽管这么炒作，但感觉没什么用。70英里的航程有什么用，而且在充电点充电时所花费的时间比使用的时间还长，除非使用汽油引擎！所以除了成本更高外，还得缴纳增加的道路税，因为从4月1号开始，超过4万英镑的汽车得缴纳额外的320英镑道路税以及130英镑的正常税。所以出租车司机是赚不到钱的！如果价格更加合理而且航程达到300英里的话，那或许值得！！！

The vast majority of trips will be well under 70 miles. You only bring in the petrol engine for long runs when it also recharges the batteries. It is the short stop/start inner city journeys which ruin internal combustion engines.
