The US navy plans to conduct patrols within12 nautical miles of artificial islands in the South China Sea abouttwice a quarter to remind China and other countries about US rights underinternational law, a US defense official said on Monday.

一名美国国防部官员周一称，美国海军计划在中国南海人造岛屿12海里范围内进行每季度两次的巡逻，以提醒中国和其他国家在国际法下美国所拥有的权利。

“We’re going to come down to about twice aquarter or a little more than that,” said the official, who was not authorizedto speak publicly about navy operational plans.

“That’s the right amount to make it regularbut not a constant poke in the eye. It meets the intent to regularly exerciseour rights under international law and remind the Chinese and others about ourview,” the official said.

Meanwhile the US is breaking Internationallaw on a daily basis by both violating Syria's sovereign territory and nowplacing US troops on Syrian soil.

As usual, the US ignores International lawwhen it suits their agenda, and only brings it up when someone is actingagainst their interests.

However do they keep track of all the lies?

It must be part of being exceptional ....

These are international waters and the UShas had the decency to explain its motives and to outline its interests. Thisis a proportional and sensible US response to a sensitive and potentiallyexplosive situation, the Chinese should reflect on that.
