Apainting by Amedeo Modigliani has fetched US$170.4m (￡112.7m) at an auction inNew York, setting a world record for the artist.

阿梅代奥·莫迪利亚尼的一幅画作在纽约的拍卖上拍得1.704亿美元的价格，是这个艺术家斩获的最高价格。

RecliningNude was sold at Christie’s on Monday after a protracted bidding battle. It wasthe second highest price ever achieved at auction for a work of art.

《斜躺的裸女》周一在佳士得拍卖行经过激烈的拍卖后出售。这是艺术品拍卖历史上的第二高的价格。

Christie’ssaid the painting was bought by private Chinese collectors. The Wall StreetJournal named them as the billionaire investor Liu Yiqian and his wife, Wang Wei.

This seems to come from a newfound sense ofliberty. There's plenty of sex in Chinese art, but not with the same abandon ofthe female form. It is a one-track, corporate kind of piece, by one of theleast relevant of the flagship billionnaire artists. Interesting.
