英航母下水之际，中国也投入了最新战舰 [英国媒体]

A lot of coverage has been given to thelaunch of the HMS Queen Elizabeth, the newest ship to join the Royal Navy howeverChina has launched a ship as well, and it’s part of an arms race.

当人们把目光聚焦在英国皇家海军最新成员——“伊丽莎白女王”号新航母身上时，作为军事竞赛的一部分，中国同样有一艘最新舰船下水。

On Wednesday, China launched a new type ofdomestically built warships that are designed to promote Chinese built shipsthat would take an increasingly assertive stance in the South China Sea.

周四，中国最新型国产战舰下水，成为其在南中国海的领海纷争中表现日趋强硬态度的资本。

The new destroyer is approximately 10,000tonnes and will undergo extensive testing with is newly equipped air defence,anti-missile, anti-ship and anti-submarine weapons. The vessel is the first ofits type 055 destroyers and is the successor to the smaller type 052Ddestroyers.

作为一艘万吨级驱逐舰，该舰配备有最新型防空、反导、反舰和反潜武器并将接受大量测试。该舰为055型驱逐舰的首舰，比前辈052D驱逐舰吨位要大。

China in recent years has been investing moremoney in its armed forces and announced in March that the budget would increaseby 7% even though for the last 20 years increases in military spending werelarger.

近些年来，中国加大了军事力量方面的预算，而且在过去20年中快速增长。尽管如此，中国在3月份宣布，将军事预算提高7%。

Its military budget still remains smallerthan the United States and their military spending would be considered smallerif President Trump increases military spending by 10%.

The new destroyer is set for sea trials –let’s see how it goes.

That’s because they don’t spend money onsocial welfare anywhere near as much as in Europe. For example, if you are laidoff, you get unemployment insurance for six months – that’s it. So, the largesteconomy in the world without the social welfare spending means you can affordthe largest defence budget in the world. Now, that’s not to say there aren’tpressures on the defence budget in the US because there are – the deficit beingone – but Europe is crippled by welfare handouts leaving defence way down thelist of priorities.
