There is a huge difference between keeping horses, which are not in stables 24 hours a day and Basi. Don`t forget Basi was almost animal royalty and treated much better than other animals, not just in China but most the far East.

I love the way China trains rescue dogs on one hand then turns around and serves dogs for dinner on the other hand. Culturally there is no empathy whatsoever. With regards to the US killing people? yeah yeah ,China this China that...typical american ,sitting home watching TV commenting on everything. convincing themselves of knowing everything. DO U KNOW china has 1.4 billion people? and most people ,most province do not have the custom of EATing dogs ? for myself ,Ive never eaten dogs ,nor my families. to ones who'd like to eat .most people's attitude here is that 'thats their business; , their custom should be respected as long as they dont steal dogs and ensure food safety. Of course we oppose animal abuse, but eating dogs itself is not immoral nor illegal coz not everyone treats dogs as pet. Can somebody tell me how this Panda lived 'over 100 human years'? is this a mistake? surely it lived over 100 Panda years and 37 human years not the other way around?

The pic of Basi with her tongue sticking out after she passed just broke me to pieces. I had to euthanize my beloved Jack and he died with his tongue sticking out the same way. After everyone left and I was alone with him, I gently opened his mouth & placed it back inside. I remember how embarrassed he'd get when he'd trip on his own ear (he was a basset hound) and then look at me to see if I saw. He'd have a sheepish look upon his face with those beautiful, expressive eyes. I'd pretend not to have seen. Sometimes he would fall asleep with his tongue sticking out. I'd always make fun of him when he'd open his eyes and it'd still be out, with him totally unaware. How I wish that were the case. I wake heartbroken; I fall asleep heartbroken. If I was positive I'd see him again I'd be ok. That's where faith comes in. I know this. But it's doing me no good. Not having that guarantee has left me within a loop of what- if's, maybe's & should haves. I want something I'll never get. I miss u JL

巴斯去世后舌头伸出来的照片把我的心击碎了。我不得不把我心爱的杰克安乐死，他死的时候，舌头伸出来样子也是这样。当每个人都离开后，我和他单独在一起，我轻轻地把他的嘴分开，并把他的舌头推进去。我记得他追着自己耳朵跑的样子有多尴尬（他是个短腿猎犬），他会看我是否在看他。他的脸上有羞怯的神情，还有那双美丽的、富有表情的眼睛。我会假装没看见。他偶尔睡着的时候会把舌头伸出来。当他睁开眼睛的时候，我总是取笑他，因为他完全不知道。我多么希望那是现在。我的心很疼，即使睡着了心也很疼。如果我在心里确定我会再次见到他，我就觉得好一点。这就是信仰的来源。我知道这个。但这对我没好处。我没有得到这样的保证，却让我陷入这样的循环：如果呢？也许是真的呢？应该是这样吧？我想要得到一些我永远得不到的东西。我想念你，JL。

I actually have tears reading your story of your dog(?) Jack. Losing a beloved animal is no less than losing a family member, could even be worse, as the animals never do *anything* bad to you (unlike family members). They are totally simple, innocent and loyal, never think of using you, totally uncalculating.

It's very painful to see Basi walking with difficulties in old age or in illness. :.( She must have been lonely all life even though providing humans joy.
