Cleaners at luxury hotels in China have been caught oncamera cleaning guests' tea cups with toilet brushes which they then used toscrub the toilet and bathtub.

中国豪华酒店的清洁工们被拍到用马桶刷刷杯子，然后又用这把刷子来刷马桶和浴缸。



Undercover journalists also filmed them washing a bathmat in the bathtub and dipping bath towels into toilet water.

卧底记者还拍到了，浴缸里洗浴室脚垫，浴巾浸到马桶里。



The seven minutes of footage was taken at the KempinskiHotel in Harbin, in north-western China and released by Chinese website PearVideo.

这段时长七分钟的视频是在中国东北部城市哈尔滨的凯宾斯基饭店拍摄的，并在梨视频网站上发布。



A staff member was capture using a toilet brush to washtea cups in the ensuite bathroom. They then used the same brush to scrub theinside of the toilet before putting it back on its plastic stand and used bathtowels to dry them.

视频里，一名工作人员正在盥洗池里用马桶刷刷杯子，随后又用这把刷子刷洗马桶内侧，最后将马桶刷放到塑料支架上，用浴巾擦干。

Another worker is then heard telling the reporter, whowas undercover posing as a trainee cleaner at the hotel, to not worry aboutsterilising the cups.

随后，一名工作人员告诉假扮实习清洁工的卧底记者，不用担心被子的消毒问题。

When the reporter asked the cleaner whether all theother staff did this he said they did but added: “We just never talk about it”.

当记者问清洁工所有打扫卫生的都这样吗，清洁工对此表示认可，不过他补充道“我们不说这个事。”

Guests can pay between ￡319 and ￡370 for a single nightat the establishment.

这家酒店的价格为每晚319-370欧元。

Meanwhile at the Shangri-La hotel in Harbin, where roomscost between ￡148 and ￡284 per night, a cleaner was seen cleaning tea cups, thewaste paper bin and the toilet using the same cloth.

这种事情还发生在哈尔滨的香格里拉酒店，清洁工用同一块毛巾清洁茶杯、厕所垃圾桶以及马桶。而这里的房价为每晚148-284欧元。

She then washed the floor mat in the bathtub with sincethen cleaned with the same cloth as before.

She allegedly admitted the hotel did ban what she wasdoing but said she was “too lazy” to follow the rules. She told the reportershe just needed to make sure her boss did not see.

她承认，酒店确实禁止这种行为，但是她表示自己很懒，不愿遵守酒店的规定。她还告诉记者只要保证老板不让老板看到就行。

The final hotel featured in the report was the SheratonHarbin Xiangfang Hotel which is a popular business hotel with prices from￡90-￡125 per night.

The Sheraton cleaner was allegedly heard saying thattowels which appeared to be unopened did not need to be changed. She was then,again, seen using the same brush to clean the toilet and the sink.

She was also seen folding the duvet on the floor.

In a statement on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent ofFacebook, Sheraton Hotels said it “deeply regretted” what happened and wasgoing to provide additional training to stress the importance of hotel policy.

喜来登酒店随后在新浪微博上发布声明，声明称公司对发生的事情“深表歉意”，会对相关岗位人员进行再培训，以强调酒店政策的重要性。

Meanwhile, Kempinski Hotels said in a statement that ithad also taken additional steps to make sure their employees adhere to the“strictest standards of hygiene”.

与此同时，凯宾斯基酒店也在声明中表示，该公司已经采取了额外措施，确保员工遵守“最严格的卫生标准”。

Shangri-La Hotels also told the Mail Online that it hadbegun an investigation immediately after seeing the video and would beincreasing training and tightening supervision.

“What the video shows is unacceptable and if accurate is a severeviolation of our strict hygiene standards”, it said.

The Independent has contacted Kempinski and Shangri-Lafor comment but none was available at the time of publication.

Harbin is, even considering the size of the country, asa German saying goes, there where the foxes say goodnight.  Staff is most likely hired from the localpopulation, which  benefits from theopportunities of employment, and that's a good thing. But the reputation ofhotels, especially of the luxury class, depends highly on the quality of theservices it offers, beginning with the hygienic conditions of its rooms, etc.Efficient training of staff is imperative, and most important, a housesupervisor, who daily keeps a keen eye on the goingson, to ensure rules arestrictly followed, otherwise you have unpleasant happenings taking place.

考虑到中国的体量，哈尔滨就像德国谚语说的，是狐狸与白兔互道晚安的地方。这些工作人员很可能是从当地雇的，当地人能从酒店提供的就业机会中获益，这是好事。但是酒店的声誉，尤其是豪华酒店，靠的就是服务质量，尤其是酒店的卫生状况。对员工进行有效的培训是必要的，最重要的是要有房间监管员，每天都要严密关注房间情况，确保工作人员严格遵守规章制度，否而就会发生不愉快的事情。

I have heard of a cloth being used to wipe urinals andthen clean a vending machine including the drinks dispenser. No harm done asthis was done in a UK council office where the council officers (NALGO) werehated by the cleaners (NUPE). So it seems nothing is new.
