BEIJING —China’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday it would “wait and see” how sincere Japan was after South Korea and Japan reached a landmark agreement to resolve the issue of wartime sex slaves, or “comfort women,” as they are euphemistically known.

The Japan/South Korea agreement can't make the Chinese propaganda machine very happy. Now that it's done there's one less opportunity for them to play South Korea and the rest of Asia against Japan.

No, I didn't miss it. I make no apologies for Japanese ultra-nationalism, but then again China and South Korea have constantly used Japan's past to stir up nationalist sentiment and further their own political interests. And I also know that whatever Japan says or does will never win any commenters over to their position.

Japan’s history of militarism and aggression had brought deep suffering to China and other Asian countries.
And China's history of human rights abuses has brought deep suffering to its own people. Without diminishing Japan's war crimes, I am amazed that China considers itself qualified to sit in judgment on another country's record of human rights violations.

While there is a LOT about China I don't like/agree with they are prudent to sit & wait to see how Japan will sabotage its own deal in all likelihood. abe's idiot wife certainly got it off to a hell of a start!

OH and how NOW Japan has to "educate" the rest of the world about how Japan did no wrong........off the charts stuff.

@Gw. The Japan news is run by the yOmiuri shimbun which owns the Japan news and its not rightwing at all merely center right conservative with best of intentions. I used to work there. Good editors in fact. @Gw，

Japan has to "educate" the rest of the world about how Japan did no wrong........off the charts stuff.
Yeah GW. Good post. Off the charts, alright. It's funny how they (ultra-nationalists) argue that ww2 japan occupied their asian neighbors in order to "liberate" them from western powers. Worse how they outright deny the Nanjing Massacre.
Regarding the sex slave issue, they have even went as far as sending scholars to (US Textbook publisher) McGraw in order to "educate" them how Japan did no wrong.

Oh, no worry there. Nothing Japan does will ever be "sincere enough" or "good enough" for China or Korea. They will never, ever stop hating Japan; it's who they are and what they do. As if they really care about "comfort women" or anybody else, all they care about is that they were defeated and humiliated and they will never forgive that in a thousand years.

then ****Abe's wife visits Yasukuni Shrine**** and ****Japan won't give money to the fund unless the comfort woman statue is removed**** happens....So I think before people point fingers at China, understand that Japan actually proved China's skepticism right. lol.

Japan has already proven it's sincerity by agreeing to SKorea;s demand, Now SKorea can show IT'S sincerity by removing the monument as Japan requests.
