The closure of the Kalijodo red light district in North and West Jakarta is just one stage in the government’s ambition to close down all 168 such areas across the country by 2019 as part of its efforts to eradicate prostitution.

The government has already close down 68 red-light districts, while another 100 would be closed down within three years, said Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa on Monday, adding that the decision was made at the ministry's national working meeting in January.

I am curious.
What happened when an investigating journalist ( let me see, from The BBC, The ABC, The CNN, or The Guardian) , wanted to investigate..
:: The Closing By The Government of ALL red districts.
:: The LGBT rights , and the existence of a Transgender (Islamic) School.
:: The FPI, and other of The same Pedigree government sponsored radicals.
:: The government sponsored made defunct of The Corruption Eradication Commission.
Because all mentioned above are a No-Non-Existence-Governmental issues where I live, but a real domestic problems for The Republic of Indonesia...who try very hard to better its appearances abroad..
Will these kind of research be labelled as haram-investigation?

Indonesia does not provide decent education to the poor. Until it improves its schools, many people will struggle to find meaningful employment. Prostitution is caused by social inequality and injustice and won't end until there are no more poor people in Indonesia. At this point, the year 3019 would be too optimistic a date for that to happen let alone 2019.

Prostitution is a big global issue due to the connection to the human trafficking. One side is the individual freedom and choice, on the other side is the protection of the weak. Different countries has different approach, most though has it outlawed one way or the other.
The religion has very little, if any, to do with this. The strongest regulation you find in secular countries. In the end, any regulation against prostitution is filled with emotions and judgment against the people in the profession as well as the people using the services.
My personal opinion is similar to smoking and alcohol, keep it away from hurting third parties. If somebody wants to sell or buy, it's their choice.

Problem is that people always get hurt in this business. And where I say people I mean women and children, and where I say always I mean in many cases, more than in any other 'service' job.
This makes it not just a business of sell and demand, but it needs to be regulated heavily.
supply and demand leads to forcing women to work for almost nothing. This is what happened here in Amsterdam in the 90's】

with so many muslims in this country (80% of the population???), it is a wonder that there are so many (168) red light districts across the archipelago, unless of course that their customers are all christians, hindus, buddhists and confucians who are awlays confused (sarc off)

To what end? Secularism works perfectly fine without trampling on religious freedoms. Denying Muslim women an article of clothing does not enforce secularism, which is seen through good policy rather than attempts to moderate public conscience.
Just because the French or the Turks are that dumb doesn't mean Indonesia needs to be. Works fine enough everywhere else.

We don't ban religious dress on government workers in my country and few question the secular credentials of my country or any of the other countries that manage to pull it off without the ominous threat of "creeping shari'a."
Face it, your desired action has no proof of efficacy and is born not out of a desire for secularism but out of a meanspirited contempt for Muslims. What a great idea, alienate a population of women from government work!

If muslims exclude themselves from secular society they have only themselves to blame. Before 2002 no woman wore a jilbab.
