Only the tops of the tallest skyscrapers inShanghai were visible to the naked eye yesterday after a thick fog descended onthe city and blanketed the majority of its buildings.

昨天浓雾笼罩上海后，将这里的大部分建筑淹没，只有几座最高的摩天楼可以用肉眼观察到。

A photographer captured some incredibleaerial images of the global financial hub, situated on the east coast of China,being suffocated by the weather.

一名摄影者拍摄下了这组航空照片，展现了全球金融中心上海被气象淹没的情景。

The shots of the Pudong skyscrapers showedjust half of the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in the country, whichstands at more than 2,000 feet.

这组浦东照片里包括了中国最高建筑上海中心，高于2000英尺。

Even less of the 1,614 feet World Financial Center was on view and most of the88-floor Jinmao Tower was hidden by the fog.

Other images captured the antenna spire ofthe Oriental Pearl Tower, which stands at 1,535 feet and was the venue of theChinese Live Earth concert in 2007.

I visited Shanghai for a week and stayed atthe Jinmao tower (the smallest of the three skyscrapers in the photo). I didn'tsee the sun the entire time I was there. Smog and pollution was everywhere -people walked the streets with masks.

我之前去上海一周，待在金茂大厦里（图中三个摩天楼中最小的那个）。整个期间我都没见过太阳。到处都是烟雾和污染——人们戴着口罩走在路上。

I was in Shanghai exactly 2 weeks ago andthat day was a sunny and smoke-free Sunday, just perfect to walk along the Bundand enjoy Shanghai. One of my favourite cities!

We might mock, but there is a certainbeauty in this. Sadly most readers are too young to remember the fifties andsixties when the uk smog was so bad that you couldn't see two meters in frontof you, smog had a yellow tinge and you could taste it having lived in bothcountries, I can assure you that Chinese smog is not as bad as we had in theuk. Still we have no industry any more because we exported that to Chinabecause we didn't want the smog that went with it.

It is different crime of conscience andaccident by ignorance. For Chinese government earn money for officers is moreimportant than people's health. officers family live in abroad, USA,UK,and soon, so they never mind whether their people were poisoned.
