Students at Dongguan University in Chinawere well aware of the strict no tolerance policy for using their mobile phonesin class.

东莞大学的学生原先已经知道上课时不能使用手机的零容忍政策。

But the pupils in Mr Jiang's finance lessondid not expect him to resort to enforcing such an extreme punishment, after theteacher ordered one of them to smash their phone or else risk failing themodule.

但是在蒋先生的金融课上，学生们并没有想到他会采用这种极端的惩罚方式，这名老师要求其中一名学生摔掉自己的手机，否则她的金融课将不及格。

Ironically Mr Jiang missed anothermisbehaving student, who recorded the whole thing on their own smartphone.

讽刺的是，蒋先生并没有意识到另一名学生用手机拍下了整个过程。



The college has now asked him to pay costs,but his controversial methods have been a source of debate on social media.

In the footage the pupils sat in silence as the girl vigorously threw her phoneonto the ground multiple times.

Reports saythe lesson was at the City College of the Dongguan University of Technology.

The college decided that Mr Jiang's actions were out of order and made himcompensate for the girl's loss.

But on social media the professor's methodssparked debate, reports news channel CCTV News.

The university has a no tolerance policy to mobile phones in the classroom, Ithink the teacher was right, in making the student destroyed her phone. Tellingthe teacher to pay for the cost of the phone, is not exactly giving theteachers any support for the policy, the university itself put up. And furthermore, it's not showing any respect for the teachers

Rubbish! Teachers are there to teach, not to have to constantly enforce goodmanners and good behaviour. Pupils choose to sneak a look at , or use, theirphones and there have to be consequences. The sanctions, agreed by the school,are how teachers control their classes. Some pupils are resistant to anycontrol, just as there are anti-social people on the streets that the Policestruggle to control.

I am glad that Chinese students now start to rebel as well. If that carries on,they will soon be as uneducated as our nation.

It is really annoying. I regularly shout and threatened to do that. Once Iencouraged one teacher to confiscate for one week. But such addiction cannot becontrolled. So drastic action is needed.

Using phones in a classroom is wrong but don't smash it wasting hundreds ofdollars spent on the thing. Confiscate it and give it to the child's parents.Idk about y'all but money doesn't grow on trees!
