American efforts to launch acold war of sorts against Beijing to neutralise the rise of Asia’s biggesteconomy are “ill advised”, Alibaba Group’s top executives said on Wednesday.

Ma’s second in command, JoeTsai, the Chinese conglomerate’s executive vice-chairman, had harsher words forWashington as he declared the trade war had morphed into a “cold war orgeopolitical war started by the United States”.

I think many China haters hereconfuse the fundamental difference between raising trade tariffs with....Imposing an embargo.
Sure, some low-end manufacturing orders mightget shifted to Sea countries, but the majority of goods, most of which aregoods produced by Chinese factories for western companies anyways, are to stay.American consumers simply pay for the same products at a much higher price. That's all.

The real issue here is that,until China was a poor, undeveloped Country, nobody worried about itstotalitarian regime; now that China is the second economic power, launched tobecome the first in few decads, the developed Countries become to worriy about itspolitical system.

Jack Ma is right. The US hadused tariffs as a weapon in 1930 when it passed the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act. Inthe end, it exacerbated the Great Depression, which began a year earlier. Nineyears later, we had WWII.
This time, behind the trade war, there is a moresinister element involved - the containment of China. As we have seen, thetrade war is not the only war front that Trump has initiated.

Here is the problem: US hasdeclared trade war on the rest of the world, insulted and belittle many of itsleaders, undermine institutions which it has created and weaponize itscurrency. The world reacts by creating free trade zones that does not include theUS, begin the work of creating an alternate world currency, and that theinsults heaped will be remembered by the next generations of leaders. I willnot go into a discussion of the depth and scale of China, the world factory andthe advantages it has created as a result of the Road and Belt initiative thatit has build. It is just the beginning, but the US has already lost the tradewar. This is indeed a very sad thing - decades of great thing that had vaporizein just two short years.
