The Chinese government has outlined a plan to reduce its citizens’ meat consumption by 50% in a move that climate campaigners hope will provide major heft in the effort to avoid runaway global warming.

The authors really are socialists I suppose they will be cheering the 5 year economic plan next. The only thing that would cut meat consumption in half is if prices quadrupled..
As some who lives in China I can tell you that fresh vegetables are also expensive since China has limited arable land. Chinese consumers will probably find that imported meat gives the most bang for the yuan. To make up for their increased consumption climate change planners in the West can always become vegetarians.

This is wonderful newsand if they follow through I will re-examine my thoughts on China and their seemingly endless need to consume every single endangered animal on the planet as well as adding a few thousand extra species to that list. I blame their repugnant 'traditional' medicine needs why anyone needs PangolinsManta Rays and Tigers to get their wang up is beyond my understanding. I strongly support this movecommon sense at lastnow for the rest of the planet to followand make it quick!

To be fair when the capitalists arrived everyone got a flatscreen and a coffee maker. I admit that. And that's great but 100 million people got diabetes and tens of millions are dying because of the pollution so I'm not sure really.

The dog meat festivals are truly disgusting. Pet dogs are stolen. Dogs are beaten and tortured to death in front of each other as crowds look on. This should be the first meat to be eliminated.

China is the world's number 1 consumer of pork but it's also the number 1 producer of pork. Imported meat isn't such a big thing yet here.
