US-Philippines ties are going through “bumps on the road” and the Philippine military could manage if Washington was to withdraw aid the Philippinesdefence minister said on Friday.

菲律宾国防部长周五称，美菲关系正处于颠簸之中，而美国如果撤销援助，菲律宾军队也能应付得来。

The Philippines intended to buy arms from China and Russia and there had been no adverse reaction from within the military to president Rodrigo Duterte’s vows to scale back defence ties with the US defence secretary Delfin Lorenzana said.

His remarks suggested he was following other top officials in Duterte’s administration in rallying behind the maverick president’s tough anti-US agenda after weeks of scrambling to manage the fallout from his outbursts and threats to downgrade the alliance.

So when they have a natural disaster we don't have to send money supplies workers food nothing. They don't like us fine I've got no problem with that but then don't come crawling to us when they need help. They said they didn't need it OK have at it.

The "aid" to Philippine is to sell some warships and fighter jets only and it is Philippine to pay for them.
￡30m is not exactly the aid but the refund for the payment to the American lawyers and Japanese judge for the one sided arbitration.
There is no need to close off any humanitarian aid to Philippine as it would be over reaction.
Bear in mind that American elite still use Philippine land for their military base for free.

Given the foreign policies of the west and the brutality of the US in particular it does make sense to ally with a country whose projection of power doesn't include parking a carrier battle group off your coast.

I'm sure some Americans would be inconsolable if their tax dollars no longer showered billions on the Philippine military but taxpayers don't make the decisions.
Like good sheep we'll all scan the headlines casually to see how the Pentagon and CIA decide things will go.
After the usual round of assassinations and the obligatory military coup the Philippines will settle down with another American-appointed dictator ready willing and able to fill his Swiss bank account with corporate bribes narco-bucks and American tax dollars.

This is the most solid evidence yet that American imperialism is on the decline. Since the 19th century we've been heavily invested in Asia and Latin America. After everything we did in the 70s and 80s to keep our spheres of influence in Latin America and Asia though we made many enemies. Short sighted people blame Obama but really this goes all the way back to Johnson and Nixon. When the iron curtain fell the Russian Bear rebranded as a capitalist power and when we thought we'd won they used our own tricks against us.

--Support for the Fishing Fleets who land their catch every day across the Country.

Why are we still giving them aid money? Why are we giving Israel money? Theirs other ways to maintain partisanship than paying for all their shi*.

Ever since Philippines gained its independence from the US it has been the closest US ally in the East Asia nevertheless it has also become one of the poorest countries in the region. Apparently the close relationship with the US hasn't benefited Philippines.

Japan and S Korea have been their closest allies. The Philippines kicked out the US in the 1990s and China moved in to their territories.
N Korea has been Chinas closest ally in Asia.
See the difference?
