BAE systems has won a ￡20billion deal to build nine warships for Australia in a major Brexit boost for Britain. 

作为英国脱欧后的一大胜利，BAE公司已经赢得了为澳大利亚建造九艘战舰的订单。

The defence giant, under the terms of a 30-year contract, will supply nine ships based on the Type 26 frigate design which is currently under construction for the Royal Navy.

这个国防巨人根据为期30年的合同，将会提供9艘基于皇家海军现役的26型护卫舰技术的战舰。

The new vessels will become the backbone of the country’s defence and is the largest naval construction project Australia has taken on since World War Two.

Prime Minister Theresa May has welcomed the news and called the deal an example of the kind of trade deals the UK can secure as Britain prepares to exit the EU.

首相特蕾莎梅对此表示欢迎并称这显示了在退欧后英国仍有能力获得此类贸易订单。


Mrs May said: “We have always been clear that as we leave the EU we have an opportunity to build on our close relationships with allies like Australia.

“This deal is a perfect illustration that the Government is doing exactly that... and it will also cement our strategic partnership with one of our oldest and closest friends for decades to come.”

梅女士说：“我们一直很清楚即便退出欧盟我们也能与澳大利亚等盟友保持密切关系，而政府此举证明此言无虚，且这也能巩固我们与几十年老朋友的战略合作关系。”

UK Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson hailed the news as the “biggest naval defence deal in a decade” and said it displayed “confidence in British design, engineering, innovation, and our world class military".

国防部长Gavin Williamson则盛赞了此事，称其为“十年来最大的一笔海军防务订单”并认为这展示了“不列颠在设计，建造，创新和世界级军事工业上值得信任。”

The construction of the vessels for the Australian navy - which will be called Hunter class - will be built by state-owned ASC Shipbuilding in Osborne, South Australia and is expected to start in 2020, with the first ship set to be complete in 2027, according to The Australian newspaper.

根据澳媒报道，为澳大利亚海军建造的这批战舰被命名为“猎人级”，将在南澳大利亚的奥斯本ASC国营造船厂进行建造并期望于2020年开工，首艘船预计将于2027年完工。

A Defence source told the newspaper the vessels will be the most advanced of its type specialising in anti-submarine warfare, saying: “They kill submarines.”

During the construction process, ASC will become a subsidiary of BAE, but Australia will keep a “golden share” in the business.

Liam Fox, International Trade Secretary hailed the contract as boosting UK’s relationship with Australia.

He said: “The UK and Australia already enjoy a strong trading relationship worth more than ￡13 billion a year.”

他说：“英国与澳大利亚为一直保持着超过每年130亿英镑的贸易关系而欣喜。”

Mr Fox added: “Today's announcement is a further boost to this relationship which will create significant opportunities for companies in both countries to deepen their trading ties.

“As an international economic department, we are excited for the opportunities this will bring to both our nations including increased data and information sharing, high-end technology transfer, and collaboration at the cutting-edge of maritime expertise.”

The agreement will create 4,000 jobs in Australia and is a major boost to the UK’s defence industry.

Shares in BAE were up by more than 1 percent following the news.

This proves that we can do deals with other counties outside the Eu and more so once we leave. Looks like Australia has forgiven us for turning our backs on then when we Joined the EEC in 1972. Now that most of the up and coming economies are in the Commonwealth and we have a chance to make a difference with them rather than being stuck with 27 other countries who would not allow the amount of trade with them when the French and Germans cherry pick the best deals.

actually what it proves is there was nothing stopping UK firms doing deals anywhere, like the Germans do, what that means is Brexit isnt going to affect that one jot, all Brexit will do is reduce EU trade

This looks like a very clever move by Oz to get U.K strategically and militarily involved in Oz again. This deal wouldn't have been possible without Brexit, as Australia could have awarded this contract to any number of countries, (and due to back hand deals etc., probably France or Germany would have won). But no, Oz decided price alone was not good enouugh and chose the U.K because Oz need a powerful military country like U.K in their area of the world to counteract China. 
Make no mistake, there will be a war between U.S and China due to the aggressive land grab by the Chinese (South China Sea etc.,) and Oz will be in a full blown conflict with China. 
At the end of the day Australia needs friends it can rely on when the day of reckoning comes for Australia and frankly Oz doesnt trust France or Germany, hence they lost the contract.
To sum up Brexit made all the difference in the award of this contract.

看起来这是澳大利亚的明智之举，让英国战略和军力重回澳洲。若无脱欧之事此举断不可成，因为澳洲会搞招标（而且靠不对称交易等手段，最后很有可能是花落法德两家）。但是澳洲最终还是决定不单独定价而是选择了英国，因为他们需要一个像英国这样的军事强国进入该区域以抗衡中国。

毫无疑问由于侵略成性的中国在南海等地肆意掠夺中美之战无可避免，澳洲与中国也将有场全面冲突。
在终结之战中澳大利亚需要并肩作战的友人，而澳大利亚并不信任法德因此它们没能获得订单。
总结下来脱欧让这次交易的结果大变样了。

Australia has given out contracts to several European countries recently for major military purchases.   France got a bigger contract than this one for submarines for example.

Well done to all those involved. Shipbuilding is well and truly alive in Australia. From what I have read in the public sphere the type 26 seems to be a high end sub-hunter. In the coming decade they will keep the RAN at the top end of sub-hunting.

No top line frigate can be bought for 350m. If you want a top end piece of equipment your going to have to pay for it.  A first class frigate will will cost you in the region of a billion pound depending what you kit it out with.  The German frigate cost about ￡650m but have absolutely no anti submarine warfare ability what so ever.  The type 26 is a cutting edge design that’s fully equipped for modern warfare and is future proofed so it can be easily upgraded to keep it upto date well into the future.  It’s not cheap and is probably at the top end of the spectrum but don’t delude yourself you can get a top end piece of equipment for anything like ￡350m.

3.5亿这个价你买不了顶级护卫舰，你要是想要顶尖军事装备就得掏出合适的价钱。在这里一艘一流的护卫舰的价格取决于你的需求。像是德国货要花上6.5亿英镑却没有反潜能力是什么鬼，26型设计领先且完全是为现代战场而生，因此易于升级将来也不会过时。这系列的顶级货可不便宜，别自欺欺人说什么3.5亿就买不了吃亏上当了。
