Three young children from the same family were drowned in the space of 30 seconds in a Chinese village last week.

上周，在中国的一个农村，三个来自同一家庭的孩子在30秒的间隔内被淹死了

The accident occurred as one of them fell into a river and the two others apparently tried to rescue them according to a social media post from People's Daily Online.

根据人民日报线上版表示，悲剧的发生显然是因为其中的两个孩子想要救起第一个落水的孩子。

Two of the three children both girls were siblings and aged three and four; and the other one a boy was their cousin. 

三个孩子中，两个女孩是亲姐妹，她们分别是四岁和三岁，另一个男孩子是她们的表弟。

The boy was initially said to be two years old but according a local official he was confirmed to be three years old.

 最开始据说男孩只有两岁，但是过后当地官方确认孩子当时三岁了。



The accident reportedly took place in the Liushashangtang Village Puning County Guangdong Province on September 13. 

据报道，意外于九月十三日发生于广东省普宁市流沙上塘村。

Security footage emerged online captured the last moments of the three children who were unattended as they played by themselves near the water's edge.

网上流传的安全监控录像捕捉到无人看守的三个孩子在河水边缘玩耍的最后时刻。

According to a spokesperson of the Puning Press Office the three children came from the same family. The two girls were siblings and the boy was their cousin according to Southern China Metropolis Daily. 

普宁新闻工作室的发言人表示，三个孩子来自同一个家庭。南方都市报称其中两个女孩是亲姐妹，另一个男孩子她们的表弟。

It is said that when the adults found the bodies of the children they had all been dead.

据说当孩子的身体被发现时，他们都已经死亡了。

The spokesperson said: 'This is an accident caused by the negligence of the adults.'

发言人称：“这个意外是由家长的疏忽失职造成的。”

The spokesperson also called the public in the area to take better care of their children as 'there are many rivers and streams like this one here'.

发言人还呼吁这个地区的人们照顾好自己的孩子，因为“周边还有很多像这条一样的小溪和河流”。

The three children's identities are yet to be revealed. It also remains unclear which one of the three fell into the river first.

Further investigation is being carried out by the local authority.
