air pollutionindex in Beijing: ~1000ug/m3 = 1mg/m3
Lets assume thedensity is similar to water i.e. 1 g/cm3
A Breeze blockis 40 x20x20 cm = 16,000 cm3
so we need16,000 g of soot = 16 million cubic meters of air!!!!
That is a lot ofsucking!

北京的空气污染指数：1000微克/立方米=1mg/m3
假设密度和水一样，即1 g/cm3
一块煤渣切块是40 x20x20 cm= 16,000 cm3
所以需要16000 g的煤烟=1600万立方米的空气！！！
还真是挺多的！

Howeverin between these fronts relatively long periods of stable dry air allows thepollutants to reach extremely Hazardous levels.

北京部分地区的空气质量指数几乎达到了1000后，突然新鲜的冷空气从西伯利亚而来。西北风将有害雾霾推向了山东，江苏，上海，韩国等等。所以对北京居民来说是好事，但是对于下游居民来说就不是好事了。
所以说冬季一般比夏季更加严重，除了供热因素外，其实很多污染物一年到头都是存在的，然而一个关键的差异在于东北季风气候比更加潮湿的西南季风气候更加的稳定。东北季风的冷空气给中国北方带来了暂时的缓解，就像现在所发生的那样。但是在这些冷空气来临的间歇时间里是相对长时间的稳定的干燥空气，所以导致污染物达到了非常危险的水平。
