巴基斯坦：印度引进核武器到南亚



WASHINGTON: Pakistanreminded the international community on Saturday that it did not introducenuclear weapons to South Asia, Indiadid.

华盛顿：巴基斯坦于周六晚上提醒国际社会，它并没有将核武器引进到南亚，是印度引进的。

In a statement issued here, Pakistan Embassyrejected suggestions by the USmedia that Pakistanwas “irresponsibly building its nuclear arsenal”.

于此发表的一份声明中，巴基斯坦大使馆驳回了美国媒体关于巴基斯坦“构建其核武器库是不负责任的”。

“Pakistanwas not the first to introduce nuclear weapons in South Asia, India was,” the statement said.

“巴基斯坦不是第一个将核武器引进南亚的，印度才是第一个，”该声明中说道。

It also referred to recent reports, which confirmed that India continuedto grow its nuclear programme by testing missiles with longer ranges. India was alsoworking on fissile material production facilities, and investing in a nucleartriad that inevitably requires a larger nuclear arsenal, the embassy said. “India alsopropounds war-fighting doctrines while being ascendant as one of the world’slargest importers of military hardware. A special waiver for India fornuclear trade is another destabilising step,” it said.

Itreminded the international community that Pakistanhad for decades offered proposals to India for nuclear restraint,including a strategic restraint regime.

As late as September, Prime Minister NawazSharif made fresh proposals for peace in his speech at the United Nations.

However, India has refused to engage. “Peacecan be better served by focusing the world’s attention on India’s lack of constructive response to Pakistan’sproposals, its investment in destabilising technologies and its aggressiveposturing,” said embassy spokesman Nadeem Hotiana.

We as anation are responsible for our actions. Many times we have seen nucleartechnology is not good for any nation. But we as Pakistanis were compelled toattain nuclear program it was for our survival.
