North Korea’s highest court sentenced an American tourist to 15 years in prison with hard labour for subversion on Wednesday, weeks after authorities presented him to media and he tearfully confessed that he had tried to steal a propaganda banner.

A young man doesn't think of the consequences of what in the US would be seen as a prank. 15 years is of course insane, but this is North Korea led by a man with obvious mental health issues. Seems wise to not even visit North Korea...why is the University even taking students here. Change can be made from outside the country, it is clearly not a safe place for anyone to visit.

So this young fool goes to one of the most, if not the very most, repressive countries in the world to steal a trophy for his church as a favour for one of the congregation, is promised a payoff and $200 grand for his family if things go wrong and he doesn't come home. This isn't quite the same as blowing one's self up for a payoff for mom, but it's getting there. Now I suppose the church members will all 'pray real hard' for him. Sheesh.
