Isn't this the sad pathos of many ethnic huarens who live and work overseas in the global Diaspora?

Today, Malaysia.... tomorrow, who knows? Ethnic discrimination and marginalization is our pain.

We are "international orphans." Neither loved nor valued by the country of our ancestors, the motherland, and viewed suspiciously as "unassimilable" exploiters and carpetbaggers by the country of our resettlement.

We are in "no man's land," discriminated, marginalized, and treated as "second-class" citizens by both ends....... disrespected, insulted, and often subjected to violence, persecution, and pogroms.

Meanwhile, by our own wits, our own bootstraps, many of us have struggled and through sheer tenacity and the stoicism, the cultural trait of "eat bitterness," ('chi-ku'), perseverance, frugality, family cohesion, and focus on discipline, education, and patience, have achieved economic and financial success..... not all, but many.

But socially, politically, culturally, we are "non-persons."

I used to think Indonesia was bad..... with periodic cycles of violent persecutions, massacres, pogroms.... the latest one during the financial meltdown of 1997, thanks to George Soros and the schmucks. Then, the Indonesian Chinese in Jakarta were persecuted and suffered much, with many of their businesses torched, women raped, young children terrorized, men being butchered.........

Yet, look at Jakarta today, at least they have a Chinese-Indonesian governor, Ah-Hok.

Look elsewhere in Vietnam, the ethnic Chinese are also being subjected to fear and perilous conditions of being intimidated and exposed to violent reprisals and their businesses being torched.

Look at the United States, where Chinese scientists and professionals today are being treated suspiciously as "China spies," badly mistreated, and discriminated against, and banished from sensitive positions, both within government and within academia.

What the fuck is the government in Beijing doing to help and protect us? Nada. Nothing.

We are on our own. We sink or swim, do or die, and need to fend for ourselves.......

Where to go? Singapore, a tiny small city-state, has become too small to accomodate all of us...... China? They don't want us. They consider us "orphans." They just want our cukongs, our taipans, ouir super-rich mercantile class who have money and can invest in China.

It is a "one-way street." We global huarens are left on our own..... wedged between a rock and a hard wall.

At least, with the Jews of the world, they have ISRAEL.

For us global huarens, we have nothing. No country nor government which trust us, which will come to our aid and assist us.

We are international orphans.

You have heard enough of the "white man's burden" used by the colonial white Europeans to justify their relentless, inhumane, racist and cruel conquests of foreign lands and subjugation of foreign, most of the time coloured subjects in their land of conquest. They deemed it their missionary obligation to colonise their savages in order that they fulfilled their Christian Evangelical duties to bring about "enlightenment" or "civilising influence" upon these people. The entailing crude exploitation aspects were conveniently glossed over.

In the Malaysian context, we were constantly being reminded of yet another dictum propagated by none other than the venerable Dr Mahathir, the never-ever-call-it-quit ex-PM, who before his tumultuous rise to power and infamy, penned this notorious book "The Malay Dilemma" lamenting the economic backwardness of his Malay compatriots in their so-called own land where they deemed their local Chinese had stolen their deserved opportunities from them.

As history would tell us, the human species are constantly being indoctrinated by so many "ism", philosophies, ideologies, thoughts etc that never cease to boggle our simplistic minds.

By holding on firmly to both political and its entailing administrative power, the Malays have, after almost 60 years of nationhood, and in the process engaging in one of the world's most successful social engineering restructuring enterprise, quite admirably turned their pathetic state of economic backwardness around by expanding the economic pie and some measure of forcibly coercively wrestling it from its unwilling non-Malays' deserved share. I am not going to delve into the nitty gritty of such injustices here.

As in any simple arithmetics, the sum total in resources distributions in any confined boundary since the advent of the notion called nationhood is a finite one. The forced redistribution of any finite resources invariably would result in a zero-sum scenario where the gain/surplus of one player shall necessarily result in the depletion or deficit in another.

Here, we thus have the Chinese Malaysians who are being forced to face the squeeze whether or not we like it. The successful resolution of the perceived injustices as envisaged in the "Malay Dilemma" has naturally given rise to the new "Chinese Dilemma". Those politicians, especially the Chinese collaborators in the ruling coalition with our hated UMNO regime, can go on until there is no tomorrow and yell that such social engineering does not encroach on Chinese status quo are merely speaking with their forked tongue.

So, now begs the question - where do we go from here after this anti-Chinese Red-Shirt show of force on Kuala Lumpur streets?

Bearing in mind that we the Chinese Malaysians are the most productive part of the equation - our revenue generating SMEs are almost completely being dominated by us - we must now fall back on using that little left in us to leverage on to make our voices known.

I would suggest we should now think seriously of a complete strategic economic retreat from this land.

Yes, God-damn it! Since they do not seem to appreciate the cold fact that we work their economy and make the nation tick, then we should withdraw this universally treasured largesse. Yes, I am sure a lot of us have already done that, we should not just withdraw our monetary capital, we should withdraw our human resources (i.e. our tertiary-educated children), savings, technological know-how, enterprises, manufacturing plants/facilities etc ...... Let them live a day or more devoid of our contributions." - LEE WEE SHING

LEE WEE SHINE
