China's stock of oil reserves could prove to be the "wild card" for global oil prices and market dynamics according to oil experts.

China has been taking advantage of the low oil price to stockpile crude for its government-controlled strategic petroleum reserve (SPR). This is effectively an emergency oil stockpile maintained by the country that gives it energy security and guards against the threat of oil shocks and an interrupted supply.

Much of China's cheap oil imports have been diverted into its strategic oil reserves which are believed to be close to capacity. This comes at a time when major oil producers such as OPEC are meeting in Algeria this week to discuss how to support prices to allow an imbalance in supply and demand to work its way out of the system.

The world is so flushed with the glut of oil it now has that "China's mystery oil stockpiles" is now being brought into the vernacular of oil traders that will try to justify unwarranted swings to the upside in case word "leaks" that "China's mystery oil stockpiles" aren't as large as.......... as this attempt at bringing in a new market catalyst that until now did not exist. Oil should be at $20 bucks. Everyone knows it. The world has floating cities of tankers full of oil that can't even be unloaded because everybody has more oil already than they can get rid of.

Noone should be shocked, that China is the Big Elephant in the room. Im enjoying that the Chicom folks are making the Shieks in their tents worry quite a bit . That Saudia Arabias cost of oil per barrel is about 7 usd , means little if noone is buying.

Being a quasi-communist/ capitalist country.... There are a lot of secretive numbers and in many cases exaggerations with regards to information coming out of China. They have one goal--being the super power of the world. The lure of cheap abundant labor and no environmental restrictions has had industries moving and building there. The downside is that once they do China has all of our intellectual designs and patents without being obligated to compensate the creators of the technology.
