新加坡国会议员，新闻局长李文献表示，在中国和新加坡的关系上，要顾全大局 [新加坡媒体]

SINGAPORE - Singapore and China have forged a strong and mutually beneficial relationship over the years, but even the best of friends do not always see eye to eye on every issue, said Singapore Press Holdings chairman Lee Boon Yang on Wednesday (July 26).

（7月26日）星期三，新加坡新闻主席李文献表示：新加坡和中国多年来努力建成了坚固的，互惠的关系，但即使是最好的朋友，也不会在所有问题上都意见一致。

When the two countries disagree, leaders and thought leaders from both sides have to work harder to achieve a better understanding of each other's position, he said at the inaugural Lianhe Zaobao Singapore-China forum.

他在联合早报举行的“新加坡-中国”论坛上表示，当两国出现分歧时，双方领导人都应该更努力的理解对方的立场。

"Even if we cannot achieve a full consensus or reach a resolution on a specific issue, we must not lose sight of the big picture. Our common interests and mutual benefits clearly outweigh such occasional differences," said Dr Lee in a speech.

他在一次演讲中说“即使我们不能就某一具体问题达成完全共识或决议，我们也不能忽视大局。我们的共同利益明显超过了偶尔的分歧。”。

"It would be a pity if we let our differences dominate the conversation... We should not allow negativity to set in. We should focus on the much more significant mutual benefits that can be derived from these bilateral relations," he added.

他还提到”如果让我们的分歧影响我们的正常交往，那将是一件遗憾的事…我们不应该让消极因素介入。我们应该把重点放在那些能从双边关系中获得的的互惠互利上。”

At the closed-door forum, organised by SPH's Chinese daily broadsheet Lianhe Zaobao, about 35 academics, diplomats and international relations watchers discussed how to strengthen Sino-Singapore ties.

在由中国日报与联合早报举办的闭门论坛中，约35名的学者、外交官和国际关系观察家讨论了如何加强中国和新加坡的关系。

In his speech, Dr Lee traced the cultural and diplomatic ties between Singapore and China.

在演讲中，李博士回溯了新加坡和中国之间的文化与外交关系。

He also highlighted how the two governments have cooperated on three mega projects: the Suzhou Industrial Park, the Tianjin Eco-City, and the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative.

他还强调了两国政府如何在三个大型项目上进行合作：苏州工业园区、天津生态城和重庆连通计划。

These projects show how Singapore and China's relationship has evolved but stayed mutually beneficial, even as China takes giant steps in economic and technological development, said Dr Lee.

For instance, as Singapore works with China to implement its Belt and Road initiative, economic and financial ties between both countries will grow, said Dr Lee.

Workers, consumers and businesses of both countries stand to benefit from these closer ties, he added.

Organising cultural activities is another way to promote deeper understanding and forge cultural connections between Chinese and Singaporean people.

举办文化活动，是促进华人和新加坡人民加深了解和建立文化联系的又一途径。

Dr Lee cited the inaugural Singapore-China Youth Arts Festival, in which youth performing groups from both countries took to the stage for three weekends this month.

李博士提到了首届”新加坡 -中国青少年艺术节“，这个月的三个周末，来自两国的青年表演团体将会走上舞台。

This festival was jointly organised by SPH's Chinese language student paper, the China Cultural Centre and China Children's Art Theatre.

这个节日是由SPH(新加坡报业控股)旗下的汉语学生报，中国文化中心、中国儿童艺术剧院联合举办。

The two countries can also work together in the area of regional cooperation. Next year is a good opportunity for both countries to bring Asean and China closer, as Singapore will be both the country coordinator for Asean-China dialogue relations and the Asean chair, Dr Lee noted.

李博士指出，两国还可以在区域合作方面共同努力。明年是两国将东盟和中国拉近的好机会，因为新加坡同时是中国与东盟对话关系的协调者，也是东盟主席。

"Such regional cooperation will bring about stability, which is critical for the continued development and progress of Asean members and China," he added.

“这样的区域合作将带来稳定，这对东盟成员国和中国关系的持续发展与进步至关重要，”他补充说。
"Our common interests and mutual benefits in these areas far outweigh any differences and they will ensure that our relationship can withstand the test of time," said Dr Lee.

李博士说：“我们在这些领域的共同利益远远超过任何分歧，它们将确保我们的关系能够经受住时间的考验。”。
